Raindrop Valves USA, LLC, Pendleton, Oregon
The float valve brand 'Raindrop' has been manufactured, tested, and
distributed in Australia for over 30-years by RGD Corporation PTY LTD in
Western Australia. The valves are a very simple, yet highly effective
design, and are used widely across Australia in a variety of applications.
Raindrop Valves USA LLC was formed in August 2006 and is the North American
sole-distributor for 'Raindrop' brand valves and floats imported from
Australia.
Raindrop Valves are available in both a strong glass-nylon resin or cast in
bronze. All additional parts of the complete valve assembly (except floats)
are composed of brass or stainless steel. These valves are built to last and
come with a 5-year corrosion warranty. The bronze valves will literally last
a lifetime.
Raindrop Valves are built to operate effectively and consistently in the
corrosive (high mineral content and salinity) water environments of
Australia. The simple flapper valve design allows passage of turbid water
and is not subject to blockage by small particulate matter, as are other
valves with filters.
The water control flap also acts as its own back flow device, preventing
leakage back into the main water system.
Surface mount applications are typically used by sheep and goat producers
for the long (8-16 feet) and shallow (6 inches) water troughs preferred for
watering large flocks in a short period of time. Rectangular polystyrene
floats with a large surface area are used in surface mounting the float
valves. This allows the shallow trough to stay full without the valve
chatter (frequent small leaking) often associated with waves and round
floats on the troughs water surface.

Underwater mount, or side mount, applications are typically used by cattle
or horse producers for deeper troughs. Valves mounted under the water
surface use a lever arm and a round ball float attached with stainless steel
chain to regulate the water level in the trough. Fine adjustment of the
trough water level can be made by rotating the turn bolt on the front of the
valve.
